It was a 2-step process. The first round was a technical interview with 2 mid-junior engineers where we discussed my CV and projects. The second round was a less technical conversation with more senior engineers.

Went through three interviews. First was with HR, then a phone call with the hiring manager, and finally an in-person meeting with the hiring manager and some other people. It was all pretty standard interview stuff.

I was referred by a current HDR employee, who is also an alumnus. A couple of weeks after I applied online, an engineer reached out to set up an onsite interview. The day before the scheduled interview, around 7pm, the engineer called to say the manager wouldn't be available, so the interview was rescheduled for the following week. During the interview, I met with the manager and it went really well. They asked mostly technical questions, focusing on understanding what I'd done and what they were looking for in detail. No curveballs, just make sure you really know your resume. After the interview, they gave me a tour of their LEED-certified office. They never got back to me after that, even though I sent a thank you note and followed up two weeks later. They completely ignored all my emails, which I found really rude. It wouldn't have taken much effort to just reply, even to say the position was filled. This company clearly lacks management, and I'd never consider working there again. It's their loss.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Questions about your resume, particularly regarding your experience with HVAC systems and knowledge of their projects (both current and past).
  • What modeling software do you use?
