HDR General Intern Interview Questions
& Process

I haven't interviewed yet, just signing up. I'm not sure about the process but I'll describe it once I get the interview.

The interview process was quite smooth and efficient. They're looking for candidates who know their resume well and are enthusiastic about their career goals. I was interviewed by three people, and the experience was very professional. It's important to be familiar with the company's current activities, as they did ask some situational questions. The process started with an email invitation, followed by an in-person interview at the office.

I applied for a Substation Design Internship, but ended up interviewing for a Power Transmission Internship instead. I'm choosing to go with a higher paying internship elsewhere that aligns better with my interests. I initially applied for the Substation Intern position with HDR a few weeks prior to our University Recruitment Fair. I then connected with them at the Fair, where I had a great chance to introduce myself. I gave them my pitch, discussed my career aspirations, and explained my enthusiasm for the role. We then chatted about the company and available summer positions. About a week later, they reached out and invited me to their office for an interview within their power transmission group, even covering my travel expenses for the roughly 150-mile trip each way. During the interview, I met with about four individuals from the Transmission department and one HR manager. The conversation was very relaxed. They focused mostly on the company, its benefits, and the exciting aspects of the work, and asked me relatively few questions. They gave me a tour of the Transmission department, introduced me to several team members, and showed me a current project they're working on. They were all very welcoming. It was a positive experience overall.
