This process started with a recruiter phone call, 30 minutes, then a phone call with the General Manager, 30 minutes, then an onsite interview with the General Manager, 1.5 hours, then an onsite interview with the Regional Ops Mgr, and Regional HR Mgr, 1 hour. Right before finishing this long process, I found out they were looking to hire for an Operations Manager Shipping for their shipping department, a swing shift position with later hours. This felt like a 'bait and switch' tactic to get applicants desperate for a job to fill their many open positions. After the interviews, I was told there would be a follow-up call about my interest in the shipping position, which I didn't apply for originally, the following week. The GM called and asked if I was interested in the Operations Manager Shipping position, a swing shift role, and I said it wouldn't work for me. Over a week later, I got a generic email saying I'm no longer being considered. Note that this company requires 5 work references, 2 from former managers or supervisors, handled by a 3rd party company. You have to constantly bother former colleagues and managers to respond to this survey to move forward. This is unprofessional and puts all the reference burden on you, not the hiring manager or HR. If they had been upfront about what they were hiring for, I wouldn't have put my references through this hassle and wasted so much time and energy.

I had a face-to-face interview with the DC manager right at the DC site. The interviewer was really professional, but also casual and pleasant. They asked me about 10 questions from a questionnaire that corporate HR provided. The interviewer mentioned they'd let all candidates know within 2 weeks, and they did.

The interview process is very structured. HR has predetermined questions. The questions aren't super tough, but they're mostly situational, so you need to be prepared to talk about your past experiences.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Can you share an instance where you had to manage a difficult colleague? Describe your approach and the outcome.
