It was pretty simple. Started with a math assessment, then it led to an interview with an HR interviewer, which was followed by another math assessment that’s easier than the first then it led to 3 1on1 interviews

I went through 4 interview rounds. The first one was a self-recorded video that I passed. Then I had a phone interview, which also went well. The next was a video call that I did great on. The final round involved a tour and then a relaxed chat with the department head. He mentioned they had a few more people to see but assured me that those interviews were for different roles and that I was in a good spot. I reached out the following week since they said they'd be in touch, but I didn't hear back. When I spoke to the recruiter, she said she'd check and get back to me. Right after we hung up, I received a rejection email. I emailed back asking why, but got no response. It felt weird that they didn't just tell me directly or give a reason. The whole vibe felt a bit insincere, like everyone was just putting on a fake smile and couldn't be straightforward.

Behavioral Technical

There were three rounds to the interview process. First, an HR screening, then a technical interview, and finally a director interview. The initial HR screening was pretty good. The recruiter was nice, communicated clearly, and was helpful. Things took a turn after that though. In the technical interview, the interviewers seemed really uninterested. Their responses felt disengaged and dismissive, which was a bad sign right away. They asked a question that really stood out: “What did you do when you attended university?” This felt weird for someone at my career stage with several years of work experience. The question just added to the feeling that they weren't prepared and we weren't on the same page. I’ve talked to a lot of teams at different companies, and this lack of engagement was noticeable. Usually, you can build some rapport pretty quickly in these talks. About halfway through the interview, I started to doubt if I'd fit in with the team or the work environment. The director interview was a little better, but that same underlying disengagement was still there. The conversation felt more like going through the motions than a real discussion, almost like the process was more important than the people involved. Overall, the difference between how the recruiter acted and how the rest of the process went made me concerned about the team's culture and the overall candidate experience.
