So, I had two people who currently work there recommend me, which I think might have sped things up for me personally. But yeah, the recruiter called me pretty quickly after I applied, asking me to do a quick writing test. I sent it back the same day, though she said I had more time, which was nice. She called back that same afternoon to set up an interview. We talked for about 30 minutes, and she asked the usual stuff like 'Tell me about a time you faced a challenge.' After that, I met with my potential supervisor and another person from the team. Culture seems super important to them, so I felt like it was a mix of seeing if I could do the job and if I'd fit in. My friend mentioned that usually this part is on a separate day, so doing it right after the recruiter chat is apparently a good sign you're a top candidate. They called me a week later with an offer.
- What do you consider to be your biggest flaw?
Technical Product Manager
Hayneedle was very quick to respond after I applied. The recruiter was super nice and responsive. I had two phone calls; the first was a quick chat about the job, and the second was to go over my background. The recruiter followed up with me, but unfortunately, they couldn't move forward because of approval issues with Walmart, Hayneedle's new parent company. Even so, the recruiter was really patient, answered everything, and kept in touch via email.
- Can you share your experience with Agile methodologies?
- Could you describe your experience writing user stories?
Customer Service Representative
Applied online, took about 20 mins. Then some quick online tests. After that, I had an onsite interview. A few days later, they made a verbal offer. A written offer came after that. I was bummed to see they want a non-compete, which says I can't do ANY other work without Hayneedle's okay. I'm thinking of passing on it.
- Tell me about your standard customer service experience.
- What are your thoughts on the non-compete agreement?
- Would you be okay with a non-compete that prevents you from working anywhere else without permission?
Buyer
I got email alerts for jobs and saw a buyer opening at Hayneedle. Instead of applying online, I gave my resume to a friend who worked there, and they passed it to HR. HR called me a few hours later, and we set up a phone interview. After that, I had another phone interview with a senior buyer. About a week later, I flew to Omaha for interviews with buyers, the DMM, the VP of Merchandising, and HR.
- Can you describe your strengths and weaknesses?
- What were your accomplishments in your previous role?
