the interview had three parts: first a recruiter called, then an at-home technical task to see how you handle real problems, and finally an interview with the QA manager.

The interview process was long and tiring. It started with a recruiter call, followed by a 45-minute chat with a team member where they asked one technical SQL question and reviewed my resume. Then there was a take-home test that likely took a full day, involving testing their web app, documenting bugs, and answering questions. After that, there was a day-long interview, about 2.5 hours, split into three rounds: take-home test review (one interviewer was very rude), a live coding and SQL interview (tough if you haven't memorized common questions), and a product manager interview covering agile and behavioral topics. Finally, they asked for another round with a QA engineer from a different team, which was conversational and went well. The whole process took over a month. They rejected me, saying I missed a coding exercise in the 4th round, which makes the 5th round pointless. Companies like this, thinking they are FAANG, just waste our time. It's an insurance company, and dealing with insurance is unpleasant. HR was nice, though. Save your time and don't make my mistake.

I got referred for a QA role at Haven Life in May 2020 and unfortunately had a terrible interview experience. I'd only recommend it if you have no other options. It started with a HackerRank test, which I aced. Then, a video call with a QA engineer went well, and I was given a project test to complete by the next day. Things moved quickly, showing their interest. I went through 7 rounds in total over 3 weeks, with the last 4 happening on the same day. The hiring manager and most of the panel seemed impressed, though maybe one or two had reservations about my limited QA background. Still, it didn't feel like a definite 'no' since they progressed me so far. Some questions were very specific to their environment, which can differ across companies. A day after the final rounds, they simply stated I wasn't a fit due to my background. I tried to get more feedback but was ignored, which was frustrating after investing so much time. It felt like a complete waste of time as they didn't seem to respect my time at all.
