Behavioral Technical

The interview process was quite smooth, consisting of 2 rounds. It's crucial to submit your application early. The initial round involved a screening with someone from the America office, focusing on standard motivational and CV-related questions. The final round comprised 5 consecutive interviews at the London office, with flights and accommodation covered. While there were some basic technical questions, the majority were behavioral. Preparing using the WSO guide should be sufficient. All interviewers were very pleasant. Feedback was received within a few days after both rounds. My friends who weren't successful took much longer to hear back.

Confirmed questions2 questions

Technical Behavioral

This was a pretty standard first round analyst interview. Nothing tricky, just standard technical questions and mostly behavioral/fit questions. It seemed to go very well, so I was surprised when I was told two weeks later that they wouldn't be proceeding with my application. This was the first bank I applied to that didn't give me an offer. It seems like there's a decent amount of nepotism that leads to certain candidates getting offers. "Peanut," the recruiter, was very nice and gave great feedback when I asked for it.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • What are the four methods for valuing a company, and in what situations would each be applied?
  • Comparing an LBO and a DCF, which approach typically results in a higher valuation, and what is the reason for this?

Behavioral Technical Case

Applied on the website and then talked to the analyst recruiter. They set up a phone interview that went really well. It was all fit-based questions like why IB, why H. Williams, why Richmond, why MM, and to walk me through my resume. About two weeks later, I had a technical screening with an analyst, but it was mostly fit-based and asked about my classes and why IB. Then, they asked me to walk through a DCF and we discussed which buyers to approach for a specific company. It felt very conversational and wasn't difficult.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Why did you choose Richmond?
  • Why are you interested in IBD (M&A)?
