First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Harris Teeter.
Chef
The process was easy with normal questions. They asked about water quality and conditions. They also had a task where you had to type 30 words for each word and the other words to each other, so you don’t get more confused with the other words in your text.
- Tell me about the water quality and conditions.
Barista
I work at a corporate Starbucks and interviewed at a licensed store in Harris Teeter to get more hours because my corporate location cut my hours. They said I was a perfect fit and wanted to hire me quickly. The department manager wanted to check if he could offer me a higher pay rate because of my experience and current pay at the corporate location. He said to call in a couple days if I didn't get an offer email, and he'd send it. I didn't get the email, so I called. The manager had transferred, so the new manager said he'd talk to the old manager to get up to speed and then contact me. After another week, I called again to ask about the offer. I was put on hold, and then another associate told me that the manager had them play messenger and that they decided to give the position I thought I had for two weeks to someone with more experience, even though I had been working at a corporate location for a long time. This whole thing was unprofessional and a waste of my time. I was promised this job for two weeks, only for it to be taken away. The person who took it away had someone else tell me instead of telling me himself. It's pathetic, and someone like that shouldn't be a manager. It's disrespectful and disorganized of this company to treat hires this way. Now I'm not making the income I expected and I'm struggling financially.
- Can you tell me about your availability?
- What amount of hours are you looking for?
- Tell me about your experiences working with Starbucks corporate.
Cashier
The interview process is quick. You'll interview, get an offer, and then complete drug testing and paperwork. About a week later, you'll start training and working. It begins with a couple of days of online computer training, followed by on-the-job training where you shadow another cashier. Soon, you'll be doing everything independently. It's really straightforward, common-sense work.
- Could you introduce yourself?
