I had an interview with the principal and some admins. They asked me some basic questions like why I want to teach, what makes me a good teacher, and why they should hire me. They also asked about why I left my last job. We went over my resume. They presented me with some hypothetical teaching scenarios and asked how I'd handle them. Finally, they asked if I had any questions. After that, I was called back to teach a mock class for the same people. I had to create a lesson plan beforehand. It was a bit weird when the admins acted like a misbehaving student to see how I'd react. We also discussed the school's STEM initiatives and after-school programs.

The interview had two parts. First, I spoke with the Assistant Principal (AP), and then I had a meeting with the Principal. They asked open-ended questions to understand my values and personality, but the main goal was to assess if I could handle the job's demands. I felt the school misrepresented the role regarding duties, student behavior, and support for the classroom and curriculum.

So it was a three-part thing. First, I went to a job fair and talked to people from different Harmony schools. Then, they had me come in for an interview at the office with the admin people. After that, I had to actually make and teach a lesson to some Harmony students. They put me in touch with a teacher for that grade so I knew what they were studying.

  • Can you tell me about how you manage your classroom?
