First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Harley-Davidson, Inc..
Manufacturing Engineer
I sent my resume in September 2007 after seeing an ad. They didn't ask me for an interview until early December. I drove to Milwaukee for the interview at 6:00 p.m. It lasted about an hour and was mostly behavior-based questions, with some regular interview questions thrown in. It felt like a typical corporate interview.
- Can you tell me about a time you failed?
- Describe a situation where you had a problem with a boss.
Manufacturing Engineer
I applied on the campus recruiting website. Got a call from HR for a background check and some basic behavioral stuff. She then set up another phone call with the Engineering Manager. The manager wanted me to talk about my resume projects. Knowing basic Industrial Engineering concepts like Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen etc. is helpful.
- Can you explain what Lean Manufacturing entails?
Manufacturing Engineer
Was called directly for an on-site interview. They gave me a tour of the area for the job, then we went to a conference room where HR and the hiring manager were. They asked me to answer using the STAR method, which is usually easier anyway.
- Tell me about a time you had a disagreement with a coworker.
- Can you describe an instance where you had to work as part of a team?
