Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Harborview Medical Center.
Registered Nurse
I talked with the management team, which included the nurse manager and two assistant nurse managers. The interview lasted for an hour. I could either do it online using Zoom or Teams, or I could come in person. It felt pretty relaxed.
- Can you share an instance where you made a mistake or were accountable for an error?
- Describe a situation where you collaborated with someone (a patient, family member, or colleague) from a different background than your own.
Registered Nurse
The interview process was very straightforward and the manager was super nice. She gave positive feedback and kept encouraging me to talk. I felt like there would be great support if I were to work there.
- Why are you interested in working at Harborview?
Registered Nurse
I interviewed with the manager and assistant manager for the unit. They were both informative and friendly. They asked appropriate behavioral, skills-based, and situational questions, and showed a team-based approach during the interview, sharing questions and feedback. They allowed time for questions and also a tour of the unit, which gave more chances for questions and meeting potential co-workers. For a potential employee, this part was especially valuable.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to have a difficult conversation with a patient or their family?
- What are your career aspirations for the next 2-5 years?
