It was a long, but pretty easygoing hiring process. I sent in my application, had a quick chat with someone, then did an online personality test and a work sample. The work sample involved digging up general info on a specific kind of international education for a fake client, using only stuff I could find online. They specifically asked me to list certain market traits, and I felt like the vague wording was partly to see if I had the right experience and gut feeling for this kind of research. The practice task really showed me what a market researcher's day-to-day looks like at Hanover. The team reviewed my work for a few days and then sent a polite email saying they went with someone else.

I applied online in January after chatting with some reps at a career fair. Pretty quickly, I got an email to schedule a phone interview. The first time I was supposed to talk to HR, they didn't call. When I followed up, they said they were in a meeting that ran late. This happened two more times! It was super unprofessional. So, three weeks after the first scheduled call, I finally spoke with a recruiter for about 20 minutes. Then, they sent me an online test that took about an hour. A couple of weeks later, I got the research project. I put about 15 hours into it. After waiting almost two weeks for HR to get back to me, a completely different recruiter emailed to set up an in-person interview. Again, very disorganized. I went in for the interview in March, having applied back in January. It consisted of three 30-minute interviews with senior market research folks. They were okay, but not super into it. One person was 15 minutes late and told me it wouldn't mess up their schedule. My last interview was 10 minutes and included the weirdest case question ever about how to handle a research project request. Two weeks after that, they emailed to say they enjoyed talking with me but I wasn't moving forward. I checked Glassdoor reviews throughout the whole thing, hoping my experience would be better - nope. If you're applying to Hanover, expect terrible communication from HR and a process that drags on forever. It also seems like they interview a ton of people and don't often hire. It's unclear how many openings they have, but the job is always posted. It was one of the worst application experiences I've ever had. Just a heads up.

The interview process started with an online assessment after applying on June 28, which was completed on July 5. This was followed by a phone interview with a recruiter on July 26. Subsequently, I received a mock research report assignment on July 31, which I submitted on August 2. The entire process spanned 7 weeks, ending with a rejection on August 17. I was disappointed because the process differed from the recruiter's description, which mentioned a final interview that didn't happen. Also, there were instances where I had to follow up on timelines as HR/recruiter responses were delayed. Finally, I received no feedback on my work quality, and the reason for rejection was attributed to another candidate having 'a bit more experience in our niche market,' which makes me question if my application was judged on its merit or if the hiring was a difficult decision.
