I started with a phone screen with the recruiter. Then I had to do a writing sample where I got a mock research prompt and had to write a market analysis report. I had a week to do it. If I passed that, I had back-to-back interviews with three directors. The questions were pretty much the same in each interview. I didn't feel like they were trying to trick me. The interviews themselves were nice.

About a month after applying online, I had an initial phone chat with an HR person from Hanover. It felt pretty relaxed, but they asked pointed questions about my skills and knowledge relevant to the job. I talked about my work and grad school experiences, and we had a good back-and-forth. Near the end, it seemed positive, and she outlined the next steps, which would happen within two weeks. First, there was a ~1-hour assessment that mixed IQ and Myers-Briggs-style questions, which was pretty intense and hard to prepare for. Second, a 2-hour timed take-home assessment was emailed, which simulated actual Hanover projects with research questions, data, and reporting guidelines. I barely finished it in two hours and recommend practicing related skills like Excel and data presentation beforehand. After less than a week, Hanover contacted me for an in-person interview. The following week, I met with three manager-level individuals. The office was nice, with a lot of green decor. Each of these 45-minute conversations was friendly and candid, focusing on my personality and how I'd fit into the team and company, since the technical aspects were covered in the take-home assessment. They assess if you can handle projects independently and on time, but also look for communication skills and potential for growth, like coaching others or client interaction. About a week later, I received an offer with a salary close to what I had mentioned in the phone interview.

Applied online and got contacted within two weeks to set up a phone interview. The call went fine, and I liked speaking with their HR person. After the phone screen, they asked me to do a 'homework assignment.' While a skills review/test is pretty standard, having one as the next step after an initial phone screen is not something I've seen before. The 'assignment' was to research and write a paper on a topic they picked, and I had about two weeks to do it. A skills assessment is expected for many jobs. However, this ended up feeling like the company wanted free work. I did the assignment, but their hiring process left a bad taste.
