Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hannaford.
In Store Shopper
It was a pretty fast process. I first had a brief 5-minute phone call with HR to confirm my interest and then they scheduled an in-person interview with the To go manager. That interview lasted about 20-30 minutes.
- What do you know about our company?
- Can you describe a situation where you had to handle an unhappy customer?
Cashier
I applied online and got a call about a week later to set up an interview. Because of bad weather, I couldn't make the first scheduled time and had to call multiple times to reschedule. When I finally had the interview, I was a few minutes early but had to wait 30 minutes for the interviewer, who seemed awkward and forgetful. The interview itself was strange, and I didn't get the job.
- Are you experienced with handling cash?
- Do you have any previous experience in customer service?
- Can you describe a time you dealt with an unhappy customer?
Cashier
The interview process is pretty straightforward and not too hard. First, you'll have a chat with HR, where you should talk about your personal qualities and be truthful. After that, you'll meet with the department manager, and it's the same deal: discuss your qualities and be honest.
- Can you introduce yourself and talk about your qualities?
- What are some of your good qualities?
- How honest are you?
