First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hamlyn Williams.
Recruiter
There were 3 interviews in total. I had one phone interview with an internal recruiter, then another video call with an internal recruiter, and finally an in-person interview with two different directors. They were nice people. It was mostly basic questions to learn about you, what drives you, and your interest in the role, along with some behavioral questions.
- What is your motivation?
- How would you handle a specific situation?
- Can you explain your interest in this role, especially considering your background in creative positions?
Recruiter
I went through 4 interviews, and after the 4th, they said they'd call me the next week. I texted to say I was looking forward to connecting that afternoon, but then I got a rejection email. They said it was because I asked to work specifically with MDs and kept asking about remote work. I never mentioned working with MDs, and I only asked about remote work to understand their roles better, and I had already said I was open to on-site for this specific role. After I replied, they changed the reason to needing someone with experience building a desk, which they should have known before I wasted 4 interviews. It felt like a disrespect of my time.
- What makes you want to find a new job?
Recruiter
The interview process began with a phone interview for initial screening, followed by a very successful Skype interview. This led to an invitation to interview with the director at their New York office. However, the internal recruiter responsible for scheduling this interview not only failed to set it up or provide updates but has also stopped responding to my follow-up emails about the status of my final interview. I was initially very excited about this opportunity and felt the first two interviews went exceptionally well. Unfortunately, the lack of professionalism from the recruiter handling the hiring process was disappointing. I previously had great things to say about the company, but they need to reconsider who manages their internal hiring.
- What motivates you to pursue a career in recruiting?
