First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hamilton Lane.
Investment Analyst
The interview process felt disorganized and they didn't seem to know the specific role I applied for. It involved many personality-based questions and a few technical ones. The behavioral questions were straightforward, but the technical questions were quite abstract, making it more difficult to picture the scenario than to figure out the answer.
- Can you share an instance where you faced a challenge and describe how you successfully navigated it?
Investment Analyst
So first I had this call with HR, then a super day with the whole team. Each part was 30 mins, 1 on 1. The first person I met asked technical stuff, and the next three just behavioral and cultural fit. The last part was a case study, which HR said was to see how much training I'd need. They said they'd answer questions but didn't, and never gave me a heads up about the schedule, just one day notice so I had to scramble. They also haven't said if I got the job or not, but the case study made me think I was getting an offer. Since HR ghosted me, I'm guessing I didn't get it. This is the first place that didn't even bother to let me know.
- Can you explain how the three main financial statements connect?
- What makes you want to join Hamilton Lane?
Investment Analyst
It was a long interview process with fairly easy and straightforward questions. Not much technical knowledge was expected for a new graduate. There were five rounds plus an Excel skills test. HR was not very quick to follow up.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- Do you have any questions about my resume?
- Why are you interested in Private Equity?
