So my interview process involved talking about my academic background, my experience, and why I'm interested in the job. They asked me about how I solve problems, how I deal with pressure, and my future goals. The interviewer was pretty good, made it easy to talk. I made sure to mention my best achievements and showed I could communicate well. I also asked some good questions to get a better feel for the job and what they're looking for.

The hiring process had two steps: a quick phone screening with HR, then an in-person interview at their office. Things were disorganized from the start. I was called by HR but wasn't told she wouldn't be there for the actual interview. When I got there, I found out she wasn't even in the office and I'd be meeting someone else. That person didn't introduce themselves, and I only learned their name halfway through. The interview was really uncomfortable because it lacked any clear structure; the interviewer jumped between topics without finishing their thoughts. Whenever I answered, they seemed to want to contradict me, often multiple times, making the conversation tense. They also made passive-aggressive comments about my stance on working startup-style, where you don't count hours. I calmly explained that if that was their view of the job, I didn't see myself fitting that model. They didn't take well to being contradicted or to me not meeting their expectations, implying I misunderstood the job offer, which wasn't the case. The job description itself was vague, only superficially describing a role that seemed like it would need multiple people to handle. They also interrupted me a lot, not letting me finish my points, before giving their own opinions or sharing their career history without me asking. This made the conversation even more unbalanced and difficult. In short, it was a poorly run interview, lacking professionalism, with an interviewer who seemed to want someone who perfectly matched their personal vision and was not open to discussion or disagreement. A disappointing experience I don't want to repeat.

I first applied to this job via Indeed and HR reached out to me almost immediately. We then had a video call with the VP of Digital Content that was about 30 minutes long. Later that day, HR called me back and told me that the VP really liked me and wanted to hire me. Then they sent me an offer letter.

I was really looking forward to interviewing for the Administrative Assistant job at Haddad Brands and felt good after the first interview. But, the second round didn't go so well. I was supposed to meet with a senior person, but that didn't happen. Instead, I talked to two other people who didn't seem to know about the original plan. They just asked two simple questions that weren't really about the job or what I can do. It felt like the interview process wasn't organized or clear, and I got rejected a few days later. Considering my background and the interview, I'm wondering if other biases were involved. It just didn't feel like a fair or complete process. I hope the company uses this to make their interviews better for everyone.
