I applied in November but didn't hear back until mid-January for a Head of QA role leading a team of 10 (6 manual, 4 automation). The job description mentioned hands-on work, mentoring, and frameworks like Playwright, suggesting a technical role given the product. However, it quickly became clear during the interview that technical skills and mentoring were less important, with the recruiter describing the role as a 'Process Owner'. I left the call questioning if such a person could manage in a security-focused SaaS environment where some QAs act as leads, and if the recruiter misunderstood the requirements or if the role description itself reflected an outdated QA model.

This hiring process lasted about 2 months and had four main steps. First, there was an initial screening. Then, I had a technical call with the team leader. After that, I completed a written assignment, which was pretty relevant to the actual job and gave me a good idea of the work environment and duties. This was followed by a review of the assignment, and the process wrapped up with a meeting with the whole team. The whole experience was very pleasant, friendly, and ran smoothly.

I had a great interview experience here. It started with a recruiter chat, then a chat with the QA Lead. After that, they gave me a take-home assignment that seemed like real work. The discussion after the assignment was interesting and helpful. Everyone was nice and professional, making me feel at ease. I think the company's values and culture are a good fit for my goals, and I'm really hoping to join the team.
