So, applying to Gyu-Kaku, you'll usually start with an online application or just dropping off your resume at the restaurant. After that, they'll give you a quick call, just to see if you're available and really want the job. If that goes well, you'll come in for an in-person chat, often with the restaurant manager themselves. They'll be asking about how you handle customers, work with a team, and if you know anything about Japanese food. Sometimes, they might ask you to act out a situation to see how you'd solve problems. They really care about whether you'd fit in with the team and if you're passionate about working in hospitality. For some jobs, there might be more tests to check your skills. Finally, they'll check your references, and if all looks good, they'll offer you the job.

Behavioral

I had a very friendly and casual but professional interview process. First, I talked to one owner for about 15-30 minutes in person. The next day, the other owner called me and conducted an interview that lasted over 30 minutes. They both maintained a friendly yet professional style. It was a very enjoyable experience, and I felt confident about getting the job afterwards.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • It was more of a conversation than a formal Q&A, and I quickly realized the owner was already convinced I was the right fit for the position and ready to offer training.

They seem to prefer candidates without prior experience, possibly because experienced hires might not tolerate the demanding nature of the job. If you're set on getting this role, you need to persuade them that you're a very hard worker and are prepared to put in the necessary hours. A significant amount of physical work is involved.
