Senior Manager
I was reached out to by a previous colleague for this job. The first call with HR wasn't tough. They reviewed my resume and asked about my salary expectations and my reasons for leaving past employers. An in-person meeting was arranged with the hiring manager. I then had a verbal interview with the person I'd report to, where they assessed my skills and knowledge in my field.
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
Assistant Manager
This process involved some basic questions, and they asked about my selling techniques and what I can bring to the company to make a difference. They also wanted to know how my past experience will benefit me in this new job. It seems like you really have to enjoy children if you work for this company, or be able to tune them out completely. Customer service used to be a big thing with this company, but now when I shop there or other places, I barely get a "hello" when I walk in, or they overwhelm me with info about different promos and I forget what they said.
- If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?
Assistant Manager
I interviewed with the District Manager. The store manager called me in for an interview for a sales lead position and I explained to her that I applied for an Assistant position in another location. The District Manager then called me in for an interview that evening. She asked me about my previous experience and gave me situations where I would give her scenarios of what I did at my past retail jobs to determine my experience.
- What would you do if an employee brought their personal issues to work?
- Describe a time you dealt with theft in your store.
