First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Gupta Media.
Media Coordinator
It was a pretty standard interview process. Started with a virtual recruiter call, then an in-person interview with the team, and finally another in-person with the CEO and Head of People. They were more focused on number-related questions and brain teasers, similar to consulting interviews, rather than behavioral or past experience questions. Unfortunately, they don't provide feedback even after you move through several rounds.
- Are you smart?
Media Coordinator
The HR person was really nice and helpful, keeping me in the loop the whole time. Then, I had a panel interview with two team members where we did a case study and some math problems, which was a bit of a surprise. It was still a good talk about business and marketing strategy. After that, there was an Excel test with another staffer, which was pretty chill. The last part was with the CEO and Head of People. The CEO was late, asked weird questions like my SAT score and GPA, and if I was smart or if anyone cared about my career. He seemed uninterested, cut it short, and left. The Head of People was nice though, which was good. I felt unheard and unsure about my chances. The company seems to have smart people and cool clients, but the end of the interview was odd.
- What was your SAT score?
- Who is invested in your career?
- Can you solve these brain teasers about plants, proportions of people and a ball and a bat?
Media Coordinator
I was reached out to by the hiring manager for an entry-level Media Coordinator position. The interview process was an anxiety-provoking, demeaning, and belittling experience, with the exception of the People Operations Manager who was supportive and kind. The first three interviews were challenging but manageable. I had an initial call with the recruiter, a first round with the team involving math word problems similar to high school level, a timed/monitored Excel exam where I had to screenshare with the team, and a final round with the CEO. The CEO was 15 minutes late, arrogant, controlling, and condescending. He insulted my education, implying I wasn't good enough despite graduating with a high GPA from a respected private school, and asked patronizing questions, finishing with timed brain teasers that seemed designed to make candidates feel inadequate. I left the interview feeling demoralized. Any company CEO who makes potential employees feel this way is not a place worth working.
- Can you explain your experience with Excel formulas like VLOOKUP, SUM, AVERAGE, and COUNTIF?
- What are your thoughts on performing calculations and data analysis in Excel?
