The first interview was with HR and it went well. I was told I'd hear back soon about the next steps. After that, I was ghosted. I followed up a few times but never got a reply. Really disappointing communication — candidates deserve basic professionalism and respect.

Interviews included people I'd work with, report to, and other execs. They were well-structured, and for the most part, everyone asked thoughtful, insightful questions. Everyone I interviewed with was open to answering questions and their answers were helpful. However, after interviewing with several people, the waiting process for feedback took over a month.

The interview process started with a 45-minute Zoom call with a recruiter named Jeff to discuss my background and the role. This was followed by a one-hour Zoom interview with the Hiring Manager, focusing on behavioral questions and requiring a strict understanding of the ad tech domain. After positive feedback from the HM, I proceeded to a coding round. In this round, I was given a coding problem on Hackerrank that involved strings and math, with many test cases for large inputs that were not shared. The task seemed to involve low-level character to integer conversions for handling large values, which I found unusual for a senior developer role. I used Java and the Streams API, and while my concise code passed some test cases, larger ones failed due to my approach not involving the expected conversions. This entire process took about 3 hours. Subsequently, the recruiter became unresponsive.

This review is for the GumGum Talent team. The entire interview process spanned about 4-5 weeks and included 4 rounds. All the people I spoke with were really nice and enthusiastic about connecting, which made me even more excited about the possibility of working here. Each interviewer asked different questions, showing they had planned a smart, non-repeating interview process. This made the interviews enjoyable, and the best part was the Talent team giving me tools and resources beforehand to help me succeed. It felt like the GumGum team was cheering me on. Even before I got my offer, I told the Talent team that no matter the outcome, this was the most thoughtful and well-designed interview process I had ever experienced. I'm happy I got an offer, but the process itself was great regardless.
