I had 2 phone screens that were supposed to be technical, but they weren't. The interviewers seemed more focused on talking about general topics than actual technical skills. They were late for the calls and didn't even apologize, which was a bit rude. Aside from a couple of very basic technical questions, they mainly asked about old projects and my career aspirations. At one point, they hinted that they prefer candidates who are passionate about the company over those looking for higher pay, which is a strange thing to say about a hedge fund – people don't usually work there to help humanity, right?

I applied and heard back from a recruiter. After that, I had two phone interviews. The first one was with the hiring manager and focused mostly on finance topics. The second phone interview was with the technical lead, and it covered general C# questions and a lot about the .Net framework, especially Test Driven Development, Delegates, and Multi-threading. Unfortunately, I didn't get the job because I wasn't up-to-date on the latest .Net Framework. It was a good learning experience though.

The interview was for an innovative dev team in Guggenheim. I was interviewed in several areas of skills: Tech Knowledge (Microsoft's .Net, Testing, Databases, SQL, Algorithms, Data Structures), Analytical Thinking, Software Design, Methodologies, and Code Refactoring. Each interview lasted approximately an hour for approximately 4 rounds (you will be there for approx. 4 hours). Overall, I think it was fair with a focus on selecting an individual with well rounded skills.
