Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Gucci.
Store Manager
They were looking for teamwork skills, results-orientation, and interpersonal attitudes. The process had three parts, individual and group ones. My previous experience in the field was definitely helpful.
- What are three ways this company stands out from its competitors?
Retail Manager
The first interview started with a question: “do you know what is Gucci?”. Followed by a question where do I see myself after 10 years. And after answering within the company but in a different role the answer from interviewer was “we don’t want anyone who doesn’t see them self working in this same role also after 10 years.” Found the whole process really weird.

Store Manager
I applied for the new Store Manager position in Hamburg. The HR team in Berlin reached out via phone to set up the initial interview, which was scheduled for three days after my application. They also sent an email to confirm the date and time. This first conversation was quite professional; the recruiter conducted a structured interview, partly in English and partly in German. Two weeks later, I got an email apologizing for the delay, citing the high volume of qualified applicants. Surprisingly, another two weeks passed, and I received a call to schedule a second interview. This interview lasted about an hour and involved the retail manager and an associate. Unfortunately, our FaceTime connection was unstable due to poor Wi-Fi at their location, so we switched to a phone call after a few minutes. Despite the technical issues, the conversation was comfortable and relaxed as we reviewed my CV and covered some basic questions. I did get to ask questions about what a successful candidate needs, to which they responded 'empathy.' I also inquired about CRM activities and discussed the 'impressive Gucci Culture' and 'idea generation,' highlighting how I identify with it. It felt like they weren't fully aware of the details available on their website, as deeper questions were answered somewhat hesitantly. Overall, it was a very positive discussion. However, three weeks after I requested feedback, I received a standard rejection email.
- Could you share your current salary information?
- What is your definition of luxury?
- Tell me about a time you faced a difficult conflict situation.
