Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Gucci.
Assistant Manager
They started with random questions, then moved on to number-related ones. Many of the questions were tricky and felt psychological, making them hard to answer. They also asked a lot of situational questions, like 'describe this situation.'
- What makes you the best candidate for this role?
Manager
This was a super long and frankly ridiculous hiring process. It started with one initial phone screen and then moved on to four separate interviews. The whole thing took over a month and a half. What was really annoying was that twice, the interviewer was late for our video call and didn't even bother to email me. They just left me waiting for over 15 minutes. This was for a management role in a store, not even a higher-level position like Store Director. I ended up talking to the Store Director, the Associate Director, a regional manager, and an HR manager. I'm still not sure why all these extra interviews were necessary. Maybe the company doesn't trust their store management to hire people for lower roles? It just felt like a huge waste of time. While I was waiting for them to get together and decide on my candidacy after all four interviews, I got an offer from another luxury brand that only required two interviews.
- What value can you bring to our team?
CRM Manager
Applied through the Gucci website in June. Got an email about 2 months later for a Skype interview with the recruiter. It was mostly an exploratory chat, covering standard HR stuff and going through my CV in detail, asking for lots of real-life examples. It lasted about 40 minutes. About two weeks later, I was invited for an in-person interview at the Gucci office in London, which took place about a month after that. The interview focused heavily on the luxury market and required demonstrating knowledge of the sector. It was a calm and professional setting with a lot of note-taking. The feedback took a long time, making the whole process about 5 months.
- Can you tell us about your weaknesses?
- What is your management style?
