This was a really intrusive interview process. I'd seen info on it before, but wanted to update it based on my recent experiences. I just got a judicial counseling job with law enforcement and inmates, and that vetting process was less intrusive than Guardsmark's. I did a polygraph for my new job, but it was way less invasive than the 560+ questionnaire Guardsmark made me do, and more practical. My new job deals with real threats, though. Seriously, run from security companies that ask for personal medical info about you or your family, or psych evals that have nothing to do with a low-level security job. Since graduating, I've had way better job opportunities than a $10/hour gig where a company thinks they need to vet people like Guardsmark does, and they're not even efficient about it. My new role lets me work in law enforcement, even the FBI, and that process, to be super clear, is less intrusive than Guardsmark's. It's not even a hard interview, just unnecessary and inefficient.

It was a pretty long process, they needed multiple references and I had to get some papers notarized. There were hours of training videos and paperwork too. The whole thing took about three days. If you have any gaps in your work history, you have to explain them and sometimes those might need notarization too. Some of the jobs might also require you to get a security clearance.

I applied and did all my paperwork, including a background test and fingerprints, which I paid for. The office said they'd call me back in one to two weeks. Some people I know who applied around the same time got hired before me. I followed up a couple of weeks later and found out they hadn't received my fingerprints or background check, and they hadn't called to check on it. It must have gotten lost, and no one mentioned it. I had to redo all the paperwork because it was a new year, and redo my background check and fingerprints. It took about 2-3 months in total.
