First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Guardian Life.
Software Engineer
First, there was a technical test which was a technical round with DSA and technologies (Java, Python, frontend, and backend) based questions. Second, another technical round, this time with some experience-related questions. Third, a final/management round, which was related to your expectations.
- Tell me about Spring Boot.
- Can you explain core Java concepts?
Senior Software Engineer
The interview started with a 30-minute phone screen where we discussed the role and my background. This was followed by a 1-hour technical interview, split into 30 minutes of coding and 30 minutes of a Right/Wrong Question and Answer session. Finally, I had a 1-hour meeting with C-suite executives to talk about my past experience. It was pretty wild; the software engineer didn't even know what IoT was, and Zhongjing Yao was super by-the-book with his answers. He was also distracted during coding, typing on Slack. After all that, they just ghosted me.
- Can you explain the differences between client-side rendering, Server-Side Rendering (SSR), and Static Site Generation (SSG)?
Software Development Engineer Intern
I applied through campus placements. The first step was an online assessment that covered everything mentioned in the job description. After that, there was a 25-minute interview that included technical questions and HR, mostly focusing on my resume. We also had a casual chat about the recent technological boom, its pros and cons. Finally, they asked about the company and why they should hire me.
- What are the differences between Java and C++?
- Could you elaborate on your resume?
- What are your thoughts on the recent technological advancements, including their benefits and drawbacks?
