The hiring process for this Engineer role took place over two months in late 2025. While HR was professional, the interview process felt too long and not very efficient. It kicked off with a Teams interview that had a lot of questions, many about old or not-so-relevant technologies. Then, I had an onsite interview with a panel of five people. Some of them had similar job titles, and it wasn't clear what their different roles were in the interview. A few interviewers seemed unprepared, like they were just looking at my resume when they met me. I also got to talk about their IT infrastructure and noticed some things that might be compliance and security issues. I felt good about how I did, especially with my background at good companies and strong references. But sometimes, I felt my experience wasn't respected enough and that I was spoken to in a dismissive way given my background. The job is still open, and I suspect I didn't get it because I'm a woman.

I had a recruiter call, then a hiring manager call, and then a 2-hour in-person interview with 4 people. When I got there, nobody greeted me and I had to check myself in. I waited 40 minutes for someone to get me because they were in the wrong conference room and didn't tell the person who emailed me to find me. They tried to make it sound like it was my fault for being in the wrong building. The interview itself was pretty easy. The team seemed really happy about my background and said they needed someone with experience in SOPs, batch records, and labeling. They even asked me the smallest amount I could pipette manually, which I said was 0.2 microliters. At the end, they said they were excited for me to start, but a week and a half later I got an email saying they picked someone else. So, I suggest applying elsewhere because they'll waste your time for 3 weeks just to tell you they've chosen another candidate.

Behavioral Other

There were 3 interviews in total. The first was a 30-minute call with a recruiter, then a 30-minute interview with the hiring manager, and finally a 2-hour panel interview with 6 team members. The panel interview was split into 4 sessions, with interviewers interviewing in groups of 2. It felt like a bit too much for the job and the low pay. On the plus side, the recruiters were super responsive and nice. The whole process took about a month, but it was around the holidays. The downside was not getting the job because the duties listed online didn't match what the team described. I wouldn't have applied if the posting was accurate. Also, the posted pay range was higher than the actual salary for the role, so the inaccurate info made the interviews a waste of my time. The team members in the last interview seemed really over it and some were unprofessional and just didn't seem happy to be there.

It was a 3-round process. First round was with the manager, and the next two were with the team. Manager asked resume-based questions, and the team focused on technical stuff. They were looking for a mix of Data Engineering and Machine Learning skills. The team seemed really positive overall.
