Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Guaranteed Rate.
Executive Assistant
I had a phone interview with their business manager, then met with him in person a few days later. It was a very casual and easy-going process. They didn't ask the typical cheesy interview questions, and genuinely just wanted to get to know me and my background to see if we were a good personality fit, as my recruiter could already vouch for my experience and work ethic.
- How do you handle urgency?
Administrative Assistant
I had a good experience with the HR screening call and they emailed me asking for my availability for a video interview. The HR person didn't get back to me about scheduling the interview, but I got a surprise video call from an upper management employee the next day while at my current job. I was thankfully in a position to sit down and take the call, but I was definitely not my best. I would think it is common courtesy to at least tell a candidate when they should expect a call? The interviewer didn't seem to know what to ask and mostly talked about the position and company. I was told I'd hear back within a few days, and I didn't. I emailed a follow-up after a week of silence, but that has also been ignored for nearly two weeks now.
- Tell me about a time you faced a challenge.
Administrative Assistant
I sent in my resume and got a call about a week later to schedule an in-person interview. They had me fill out an application when I got there. The people were nice, and I was interviewed by two people. They didn't ask anything too weird.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Describe how you manage when you have many tasks at once.
- What's your approach to dealing with customers?
