Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at GS1 US.
Director
The interview process was pretty straightforward and not too stressful. First, there was an HR phone screening. Then, I had a phone interview with the hiring manager. After that, they flew me to their HQ in New Jersey for in-person interviews with six senior leaders. The interviewers knew a lot about the company and the role, and they really seemed to get what I was looking for in my next job. They noticed my initial concerns and even offered to connect me with people who could provide more information. Overall, it was a really nice interview experience.
- Can you describe in detail how you would challenge an executive's proposed strategy or direction if you disagreed with it?
Director
Had a phone interview with a couple of people first. Then went in person for a more intense interview with five different people from across the org. There was also a mock facilitation of a meeting. It was a lot, but also kind of easy. Talking to people from different parts of the company gave me a good outside perspective on the role, and they were really upfront about the company and what the job involves. Some interviews felt like normal chats, others felt like they were reading from a script.
- Were there any surprising questions?
- Some questions were situational or behavioral.
- Others were functional or experience-based questions.
