First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Grubhub.
Sales Executive
First, I had a quick 15-minute chat with a recruiter. After that, they scheduled two 30-minute interviews with sales managers. The whole thing was pretty straightforward and easy. It all wrapped up in just over a week, and I'm still waiting to hear back.
- How competitive are you on a scale of 1 to 10?
Sales Executive
The process was super organized, and the recruiter and team kept me updated throughout. I never had to wait more than a few days to hear back after an interview round. First, I had a call with the recruiter, then a call with my future manager, followed by a call with another manager on the team. After that, there was a 30-minute presentation and role-play exercise, which gave me a good sense of the job, in front of five management members. The process wrapped up with a final call with someone higher up. All the questions were pretty standard, just confirming my interest in sales and my potential to succeed in this type of role. Nothing unexpected! Everyone I met was really nice and made me want the job even more.
- How do you approach building your sales pipeline and identifying potential clients?
- What draws you to a career in sales?
- What are your primary motivators?
Sales Executive
The interview was a bit of a let down. I was really excited about this opportunity, however, the interviewers did a poor job of advocating for their company. There were a lot of questions like "there are a lot of hustlers out there. Why would we hire you over the next person who can sell?" That's an okay question to ask, but when you don't necessarily need to make a career change, it comes off a little unbecoming. I left the interview without a clear sense of the company culture or team dynamics. I wanted to know what I could expect on a day-to-day basis working with this team. From what I gathered from the interviewers and their questions, there isn't a strong culture and it's more about why do you deserve to be there rather than a mutual conversation. That is a little bit of a turn off considering the base salary for this position is $32k and the OTE is $75k which is very low for a large company like this. A lot of the questions were "gotcha" questions.
- Why should we hire you over the next person who hustles?
- What would you change about the dining experience?
