The interview process was typical, starting with a recruiter screen and moving to a technical round that included presentations and exercises. However, just a few days before the scheduled final round (which included cross-functional interviews, problem-solving exercises, a "Bar Raiser" interview, and a portfolio presentation), I got an automated email saying "thanks for your interest, role filled." I really thought it was a mistake. Since it was sent late on a Friday, I had to wait until Monday to get any clarification. It was super frustrating because I had spent my whole weekend preparing for the interviews. Unfortunately, the recruiting team used an automated system to cancel the final round instead of sending a personal email. It felt really dismissive, especially considering how much time I invested in preparing for these interviews. This could be easily fixed by sending a templated email from the recruiter's inbox, not from the ATS.

I got in through a referral, she was very nice and helped me prep for the first round of interviews but unfortunately after the first round was over I never heard back from the team.

So, the process was pretty much the same as another person described for this role. Honestly, I was super disappointed with how the hiring manager acted during my interview. I just bailed right after because I knew it wasn't a fit. They seemed totally checked out while I was showing my portfolio, which they asked for. Then they asked if I wanted to wrap it up early since they had no questions for me after I spent like 30 minutes explaining my work. When it was my turn to ask stuff about the job, the team vibe, and how they do things, they were super vague. Seriously, this manager needs to fix how they interview and at least pretend to care about what candidates bring to the table.
- Could you present two of your portfolio projects?
- Can you tell me about two of your portfolio pieces?
