Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Group Gordon.

It was a pretty standard interview with two members of upper management. Everything seemed to be going well until one of the interviewers started asking really arbitrary, obscure, and somewhat demeaning questions, seemingly trying to trip me up. It was one of the most unnecessarily odd interview experiences I've had. If I had to work with that person, I think I'd be pretty miserable, so I'm really relieved I didn't get an offer. It showed me the type of company I DON'T want to work for, and I'm grateful for that.

I got this job through my university's job listings. First, I had two Skype calls with different employees, both asking basic behavioral questions. After that, I was sent a writing test, and then invited to the office to meet the team. The in-person part lasted about 2-3 hours and included 3 group interviews, an editing test, and a meeting with the CEO. I've heard that meeting with the CEO is always the toughest part, and it's designed that way. About 3 weeks after the interviews, I heard back, though they did reach out sooner to let me know the process was taking longer than expected. It was a good experience overall, and knowing I didn't do great with the CEO (my fault), I wasn't really surprised I didn't get an offer. You get to meet everyone, and they're really nice and helpful. My only issue was that they didn't mention anything about travel reimbursement. I know a lot of candidates are from NY, but many others have to travel from further away. It's okay for a small company not to reimburse, but I wish they'd at least acknowledge the policy. It's kind of awkward for candidates to have to ask about it.

The interview process was pretty simple. I was asked questions about my resume, my motivation for joining the company, and my strengths and weaknesses. I talked to two people for about 1.5 hours. Finally, I was given a writing assignment to complete within a week, which involved writing a press release and a pitch email.
- What's an interesting fact about you that people might not know?
- Of everything on your resume, what are you most proud of?
- What's a genuine drawback to working at this company?
