The interview process was a bit lengthy, as it required speaking to several employees, managers, and the recruiter, but I appreciate the time they spent getting to know me and ensuring it would be a mutual fit. There was a panel interview with several of the CSMs that allowed me to see the culture between the established team, which I appreciated. The recruiter I worked with was very responsive and kept me in the loop throughout the process. Being 100% remote, all interviews were conducted via Zoom.

The initial stages of the hiring process took a really long time, and it was a slow go moving through the different rounds. HR was not very responsive, and they didn't send over action items or follow-ups as they had promised. The interview with the management team was mostly fine until the Q&A part at the end. They seemed hesitant and unwilling to answer questions, and their communication style came across as unprofessional and inexperienced. They didn't provide any feedback other than saying 'no red flags on our end'. I think Grin has a lot of potential, but they really need to put more resources into their people operations, improve their recruiting and hiring process, and develop more equitable and agile interview steps.

Super fast after I applied, I had a first interview with someone who seemed to be a recruiter at GRIN. It was an okay interview but I already knew I wouldn't get an offer. My only worry for this company is that even though they have a great product, you can tell they're looking for a really specific personality type. They'd probably call it "culture" but I really think having different ages, races, and personalities is key for a company to become big and last long.
