First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Greggs.
Customer Assistant
personally I found it very friendly and the questions quite generic such as about teamwork, sales, drive and why you want to work there . They score you on a points system but is quite easy if you are prepared and confident.
- How could you improve sales?
- Can you give an example of when you had to overcome a challenge as a team?
Customer Assistant
I was invited, and since there were limited spots, I had to reschedule some things because of high demand. I waited over an hour to get into the interview room, which turned out to be in the break room. The manager had a strong accent, making it hard for me to understand him and answer some questions. The questions were mostly performance-based, like 'what would you do if' and 'how do you display.' I didn't get the job.
- How do you show teamwork?
Customer Assistant
The Greggs interview process was pretty chill and straightforward. After applying online, I got an email to pick an interview slot at my local store. When I got there, it was less formal than expected, not a big panel, just a sit-down with the shop manager or assistant manager, likely in the staff room or a quiet part of the shop. It was friendly, and they mainly wanted to know me – why I wanted to work there, if I could handle early shifts, and if I enjoyed working with people. They asked about teamwork, dealing with busy times, and how I’d assist customers. It felt more like a chat than rapid-fire questions. They also gave me info on the role – hours, pay, discount – and asked about the schedule. It seemed like they were checking for team fit more than testing me. The whole thing was quick (20–30 mins), super friendly, and not intimidating. Being ready to talk about customer service, teamwork, and your motivation for the job is key.
