First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Greencore-formally Bakkavor.
Section Leader
I had a 45-minute chat with the production manager. We talked about my background and why I was interested in the role. Then, they went over the job and company specifics. After that, I answered some questions using the STAR method.
- Can you share an instance where you resolved a complicated problem?
Technical Administrator
even though I was late due to traffic, they were understanding and still did the interview. It was mostly about behavioural questions and how I aligned with Bakkavor's Values.
- Can you describe a challenge you encountered with a coworker or customer, and how you resolved it, including the resulting impact?
- Describe a time you faced a challenge with a colleague or client.
- How did you handle the situation?
Multi Skilled Technician
Had a 15 minute phone call first, then a 45 minute in-person meeting at the site. The people were easy to talk to and made me feel comfortable. They got back to me faster than any other place I applied to.
- What are your 5-year career aspirations?
- What abilities do you possess that are relevant to this position?
- Describe a situation where you effectively led a team.
Graduate
I applied online back in October and did some tests. Then in December, I got asked to do a video interview. I got an email in January saying I didn't get through, but they quickly sent another email to correct that. I then went to a 2-day assessment centre in London with 5 other people. It involved a factory tour, two 2-hour interviews, a group task, and a case study presentation. We were given 2 hours on the first day to prep for the presentation. It would have been good to know the criteria for a 'graduate' scheme beforehand, as some people had 4-5 years of experience post-uni, and one person was an internal candidate who basically had the job already. They said we'd get feedback the next day no matter what, but a week later I still hadn't heard anything, so I emailed to confirm I was unsuccessful. Even now, 4 weeks later, I still don't have any feedback on how to improve for future assessment centres, even though it was promised. I definitely wouldn't recommend this.
- Which of the company's values do you identify with the most, and which do you identify with the least?
