The interview process at Great Minds took about a month from start to finish. It began with a 30-minute recruiter chat with Evan, who was very professional. Then, I had a 30-minute interview with the hiring manager, and soon after, an interview with a scientist. The final round was a panel interview with two team members. They took about two weeks to make a decision after my last interview because I was one of the first candidates. Evan kept me updated weekly, gave clear timelines, and let me know when to expect a decision. His communication made the experience positive.

The interview process was pretty smooth. A recruiter reached out, and then I had 5 interviews over 5 weeks because they needed to hire someone quickly. Everything was done over Zoom. After the main interviews, they told me I had one last interview that week and they'd make a decision and send offers the next week. I know things can take a while, but after 3 weeks and me following up multiple times, I heard nothing. The recruiter also hadn't heard anything. So, after five weeks total, I contacted the VP to say I was bummed they didn't even bother to tell candidates they weren't chosen after taking up so much of our time. Right after that, the hiring manager emailed me saying they went with someone else and she was just too busy to reply. I get that it's a competitive job market and people are busy, but it really reflects poorly on a company if they can't even send a quick email to people who get pretty far in the process. It takes almost no time, and companies should realize they're being interviewed too.

I applied in October. The recruiter contacted me mid-January for a quick screening call (under 10 mins). I got through to the final round a week later. The interview went okay, and they said I'd hear back within a week. It's been months, and I got ghosted even after reaching out to HR and the interviewers. It was a bit strange how they really dug into my nearly 10 years of teaching experience for what seemed like an entry-level job, which I explained how my past experience could be a good fit. It makes sense given how unprofessional they were with no follow-up or feedback.
