There were two interviews and a sample project. I had to wait a bit to hear back, but everyone was super nice. The process went pretty smoothly overall. Standard interview questions were asked. I met a few people from the team during the interviews.

The interview process started with a brief 20-minute chat where they asked some straightforward questions, like how I'd rate my PDF and MS Word abilities on a scale of 1 to 5. The interview itself felt easy. The editing test, however, was more involved, and I'm not sure I nailed it. The next step was supposed to be a 3-5 hour editing test, but it required signing a one-year non-disclosure agreement beforehand. Personally, I think any test longer than an hour feels like working for free. Also, asking for a one-year NDA before hiring someone seems unfair, like taking without giving anything. They should wait until someone is hired before asking them to sign an NDA. If that means they need to re-do the editing test, so be it.

It’s a pretty long process, and they ghost you after leading you on for months. You’ll have a couple phone interviews, then a really tough writing and editing assignment. I actually spent double the recommended time on it and gave detailed, smart suggestions for fixing their terrible content. It took them a month to reply. I had to chase the hiring manager about three weeks after sending the writing task to see if I’d ever hear back. He said I was still being considered. Then, another week later, he emailed to say they’d gone with other candidates. Don’t bother applying. It’s a good sign of their company culture and how they treat people. Looking at reviews now, it seems like not getting hired was a good thing.
