I had a nice interview with Cara Weddington from Great Hearts, and the experience left a very positive impression of the school. Cara was warm, attentive, and genuinely interested in understanding my teaching style and how I support students in learning mathematics. Her questions were thoughtful and focused on clarity of instruction, student engagement, and how I help learners build confidence through problem-solving. She also took the time to explain the school’s culture and expectations, which made the conversation feel balanced and informative. Overall, the interview felt supportive and encouraging, and it strengthened my interest in joining the Great Hearts community.

If you are applying for a special education role, be prepared to discuss timelines and fundamental knowledge about evaluations and IEPs. It's also a good idea to check out the company website beforehand to understand their philosophy and culture, as these topics will likely be more prominent in the interview than other areas. If after reviewing the website, you feel it's not a good fit for you, trust your gut feeling.

The first step was a video interview, and I only had one shot at it, with a strict three-minute time limit for most questions (except for the lesson plan part). There were a total of seven questions. I didn't make it past this stage, so I don't know what comes next.

The interview process lasted a few weeks and involved several stages, including a final panel interview and a time-consuming take-home assignment. While the interviews themselves were fair and the interviewers were pleasant, I was told I'd hear back in a couple of weeks, but they never responded to my follow-ups. This role was a good fit for my qualifications, and it's really unprofessional to ghost a candidate after multiple interview rounds and a completed assignment, without any feedback or even a simple notification that another candidate was chosen.
