Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Great American Group.
Financial Analyst
The interview had two nice interviewers. It was mostly technical questions and a review of my resume. I think I didn't get the job because the Excel test was really hard for me, especially the IF and AND functions. Even though I'm sure I didn't get it, it was still a good experience overall.
- Could you outline the key factors to consider regarding inventory management within a hypothetical business context?
Financial Analyst
We started with an on-campus interview to see if you'd be a good fit. They asked basic stuff like what you know about Great American. The second round was at their office in Woodland Hills. You had two hour-long interviews with two people each. They asked case questions about liquidating a company, like how you'd liquidate a pen company. The second round also had an Excel test and a test on reading income statements. Make sure you're pretty good at Excel. The third round was just one interview with the higher-ups, focusing again on behavioral questions, checking your fit, and getting a sense of whether you'd stay with the company after graduation.
- What factors influence the sale of assets during a liquidation scenario?
Financial Analyst
Got an email, and then they asked me to come in for an in-person interview and an Excel test. Haven't heard back yet, just a couple of days in, so still early stages.
- How is asset valuation evaluated and what are the different ways it can be calculated?
