First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Graybar.
Project Specialist
The interview process was pretty simple. I learned more about the role since it's a Union position. I liked that it was in-person and felt like the interviewer was really interested in what I wanted to get out of the role.
- What makes you want to pursue this role, considering your background is in more creative endeavors?
Project Specialist
I sent in my application through the Graybar website's careers section. Someone reached out and we scheduled a phone interview for a few days later. I actually asked to push it back a bit to get more prepared, though they were fine with doing it right away. About a week after that, I went in for an in-person meeting with two of the managers. The very next day, they extended an offer, which I accepted.
- Can you describe how you've dealt with specific situations from your previous work or academic experiences?
- Do you have any questions regarding opportunities for further education?
- Could you tell me about the work environment?
Project Specialist
It was a pretty long process, I applied online and about a month later I got a call for a phone interview. The phone interview was pretty basic, mostly covering my background and experience. About 3 weeks after that, the hiring manager reached out and we scheduled an in-person interview. That interview was also pretty basic and informal. They really emphasized that industry experience and SAP knowledge were strongly preferred, mentioning it a few times even though I have a strong supply chain background. The hiring manager was really nice and knew a lot about Graybar, so the in-person interview was a pleasant experience overall. I sent a thank you note and was told they'd hopefully have a decision soon, but I never heard back.
- Can you share an instance where you made an error and how you rectified it, including what you learned?
- What steps would you take to familiarize yourself with a new product line?
- Could you describe your organizational characteristics?
