First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at GRASSI.
Tax Associate
I met them at Queens College in the fall before I graduated. I introduced myself and gave them my resume. After graduating in the spring with my bachelors, I called them for a phone interview. They mentioned they prefer someone with a masters. I looked at their directory and noticed most of their partners only have bachelors degrees, including the founder. It's hard to believe the founder wouldn't qualify for an entry-level position at his own firm. This makes me think the HR person had a personal issue with rejecting me.
- Do you have a masters degree?
Recruiting Director
What a great interview experience from beginning to end! It started with a phone screen with the HR Director who was awesome! Really nice and super helpful with explaining the firm and answering all my questions. It felt more like a chat to get to know each other than an interview. Then I met with the CHRO who talked about the challenges I've faced at my old firm and what Grassi could offer. We discussed Grassi's entrepreneurial vibe, the huge growth and opportunities there. It all sounded amazing! Another great conversation, easy to talk to and very friendly! Finally, I met with the Managing Partner and some Partners in Charge. They were all very pleasant to talk with. They addressed many of my questions and concerns, making me feel really good about my decision. I'm thrilled to be here and excited to grow with the company!
- Why are you looking to leave your current company?
- What aspects are lacking in your current job?
- What are you hoping for in a new position?
Chief Financial Officer
It started with a recruiter call and then a phone screen, followed by meetings with managers and a partner. Then I had a client meeting with the owner. They gave me very positive feedback about my fit and competence. However, the communication from the recruiter was weak. I had to constantly call and email them, and they kept telling me I was a prime candidate. 4 months later, I still don't know the status, and even though they told me I was the ideal candidate and would have another owner interview, I haven't heard back.
- Can you explain why you are no longer a Tatum partner?
Audit Associate
Read a similar review here with what I felt happened in my interview. The interviewer would not let me talk after asking a question. The interview did not last long at all. The majority of the conversation was about what Grassi is and where they are located. It was obvious you had no chance when they started rushing the interview.
- Where are you located or tell me about yourself?
