Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Granicus.
Project Manager
So, first there was a phone screen with Talent Acquisition, which went well because I have the experience and skills they were looking for. Then, I had an interview with the hiring manager, which was also quite good; we seemed to understand each other and complemented each other's answers. After that, I had a panel interview with four people, and I got really good feedback from this one. The hiring manager even mentioned she was impressed with my background and how my specific experience could really benefit them for the project they were hiring for. She said I should expect to hear back in a couple of days. A week later, I got an email from a generic 'no-reply' address saying they decided to go with other candidates who were a closer fit for their business needs, and that was the end of it.
- Can you describe instances where projects you managed experienced scope or budget creep?
Project Manager
It was a relaxed chat with two people on the panel. They asked questions and we chatted about how I'd fit in and if I'd be interested in the team, and I got to learn about the department from them. They were really open and shared insights about the team, and I got to talk about my past experience and how it could help the team.
- Describe a time you dealt with a client escalating project issues to your boss.
- What motivates you to apply for this position and what aspects of project management do you enjoy?
Project Manager
I applied online and had a phone screener with HR. The coordinator, Katherine, was great - super organized and kept me updated. She asked relevant questions about my background. After that, I took an aptitude test, which felt a bit dated. Then, I interviewed with the hiring manager. He asked good questions about my experience and how I manage projects, avoiding tricky questions. He focused on understanding my work style and team fit. I would have had a final interview with the team, but I accepted another offer before that. The whole process took about a month. They moved at a decent pace. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd recommend it if you're interested in the company.
- Tell me about a time you dealt with a difficult client.
- In your opinion, what are the key qualities of an effective project manager?
- Can you describe your approach to managing multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines?
