First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Grand Canyon Education.
Account Executive
I had a call screening. The screener had to reschedule last minute, which is fine. When we finally connected, she asked about my education. I answered honestly. She then put me on hold for 45 minutes to check with the hiring manager. I emailed her to check in, and she said she'd get back to me. We went back and forth for 3 days about the education requirements (which were listed as preferred, not required, on the job posting), and I showed I met the minimum. Then she ghosted me. Very unprofessional, I won't pursue this further even if they reach out. What a waste of time.
- Do you have a bachelor's degree?
Admissions Counselor
I had a phone interview with the manager, and he pretty much offered me the job but just wanted me to meet his boss. He scheduled a virtual interview the next morning. As I was done getting ready, he gives me a call that the position was filled. Who even does that? Don't promise someone a job if that's not what's going to happen.
- What makes you enjoy recruiting?
Admissions Counselor
There were 3 interviews in total. The first one was a pre-screener, followed by two interviews with my potential manager. After that, the recruiter contacted me with an offer and the offer letter. If I accepted, the next steps were the background and reference checks. The whole process took about a week. Then I was given a training date. The training itself is 4 weeks long, and after graduating from training, I'd join my team and start working.
- Did you previously hold a sales role?
Art Director
The process started with a phone interview where they mentioned my pay expectations were a bit high. Despite that, I decided to continue because of the attractive benefits. After the initial HR screen, there were three additional interviews plus a design test. I received positive feedback throughout, which made me feel confident about my candidacy. However, I had to follow up after a week to inquire about the decision. I was informed that they had offered the position to an internal candidate who accepted. This was disheartening, as I believe internal candidates often have an advantage and should be considered before external applicants are interviewed extensively.
