Behavioral Technical

I applied for the Technical Support Engineer role at Grafana, submitting my application, answering questions, and attaching my CV. A week later, I got an email saying I'd progressed to the next step: a written assessment. I was given a scenario and had to write a response. Two days after that, I heard back and moved to the third step, which was an interview with a Talent Acquisition team member (a freelancer) to discuss my background, experience, and motivation for joining. If successful, I'd then proceed to the final stage of interviews. I booked this interview, excited. When the interview started, the interviewer seemed disengaged. He asked why I wanted to join Grafana. I explained, but he didn't seem very interested and didn't ask follow-up questions. He then asked about my background. Halfway through my answer, he stopped me and asked about my experience with Kubernetes and AWS. I said I didn't have any. He then told me that the hiring manager liked my written assessment, but he didn't think I was a good fit due to my lack of experience, mentioning the technical interview would focus on Kubernetes, AWS, and APIs. I was surprised by his abruptness, especially since my application had mentioned my lack of Kubernetes experience but eagerness to learn, and the job description stated that knowledge in those areas was desired, not mandatory. I felt I wasn't treated fairly.

It was a chill interview, the interviewer asked stuff that mattered for the job. It went faster than I thought it would, the process was pretty direct.

They had a pretty involved process: first, a take-home written assessment and then another take-home technical assessment, which took me about 6 hours total. After that, there was an HR interview to check if I met the basic requirements. Then, a 1-hour technical interview with an engineer in a terminal, followed by a 1.5-hour behavioral interview. Finally, there was a 1-hour interview with management and another 1-hour interview with the head. I thought I had a good chance, but they ended up ghosting me, which felt like a total waste of my time.
