Sales Development Representative
It was a 4-part process. First, an initial screen with the recruiter which was easy. Then, a call with the head of SDR. After that, a chat with an SDR. The final part was a presentation I had to give to two executives. The presentation took a good amount of time to prep but wasn't too difficult. I could use Chat for help and research. One of the interviewers seemed really bored and uninterested in what I had to say.
- For your presentation, find two potential target accounts and research how Grafana's software could benefit them.
- Identify a contact person within those target accounts.
- Conduct a mock cold call to that person.

I applied through LinkedIn and then got an email to schedule a Zoom interview. The first interviewer was late and didn't turn her camera on, but it went okay and she scheduled a second interview for the next day. The second interviewer seemed really focused on how I found the job, like if it was through a recruiter or referral. When I said I found it myself on LinkedIn, she kind of lost interest. She mentioned she had more interviews the following week and I'd be notified after that, making it seem like I was still in the running. Then on Monday, I got a generic rejection email from a no-reply address, not even specifying the role, which was frustrating because I'd applied to multiple jobs there and was expecting a more personal update on the SDR role. They didn't even have the decency to contact me directly or send a personalized email after two 30-45 minute Zoom interviews that required a lot of my effort. It felt like my time wasn't respected, and it took three weeks for a generic rejection. I emailed the first interviewer for clarification, and she responded hours later saying they passed on my application for the SDR role. It seems like they lack communication and empathy, and maybe only hire people with connections. The process didn't feel fair or respectful, especially in this job market. I was really excited about the role, but this experience has totally soured my view of Grafana Labs.
- How did you come across this opportunity?

- Could you identify your role model?
Sales Development Representative
Got an invite for a first round interview about a week after applying. When I went to schedule, there were no open slots for at least a week, so it took longer than I wanted. The interview itself was quick and the questions were pretty simple. It was weird the interviewer kept their camera off for the Zoom call, which kind of defeats the purpose. Felt like I did alright, but guess it wasn't a match. A bit annoyed I spent time researching the company for another rejection, but oh well, not the right fit.
- Could you tell me about your experience and background?
- What interests you about Grafana?
- What motivates you to pursue a career in sales?
