First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at gpac.
Recruiter
I wasn't really interested at first, especially after talking to the hiring manager. They seemed pushy and not genuine. But I decided to go ahead and had my second interview. During the interview, they told me I wouldn't be allowed to continue my part-time business. They expect 1000% commitment. I get being committed, but telling someone to quit a part-time job that doesn't take much time is weird. They ghosted me for a few weeks and then emailed to say I wasn't chosen. I was ready to join them by then. My gut told me to run away from the start. From my limited interactions, they seem very pushy and dominating. I didn't get a good vibe from the beginning.
- They interrogated me about my side business and stated I would not be able to continue any other business but theirs if chosen. They used scare tactics to push compliance.
- Honestly the whole interview was focused on telling me I would have to discontinue insurance sales if chosen.
- Its odd because its not a time consuming side job.
Search Coordinator
Had 3 interviews total, first a screening, then one with a senior search consultant, and lastly one with a director. They use the third interview to really test if you're fully prepared and understand the job inside out. Everyone was nice, answered questions helpfully, and I heard back about the next steps quickly after each interview.
- Do you fully understand and are you comfortable with the outbound activity level required for this role?
Search Consultant
A former gpac search consultant on LinkedIn referred me, though she only stayed for 3 months. She then connected me with a current search consultant. I had a chat with her and she seemed nice, so she escalated me to her leader. I recently had a virtual interview with a Talent Acquisition Specialist who was also very pleasant. However, I did some digging into the company via Google reviews, Reddit, and other sources, and the overall picture isn't great, making me a bit hesitant. Just a heads-up, they will send a questionnaire and require at least 2 professional references before moving forward in the interview process. I'm currently waiting for the next steps, but if an offer is made, I'm unsure if I'll accept it given the negative feedback.
- When did you start and end your last two jobs (month/day/year)?
- What was the reason for leaving each of your last two jobs?
- What did you like about your current or previous role?
Head Hunter
I was contacted by a recruiter about a candidate they wanted to send to me for an interview. He was quite brash and made lots of comments that were in poor taste while describing the candidate. He refused to send me any details until I agreed to pay his outrageous fee via contract. When I responded (within 12 hours of initial contact) explaining that our company was not interested in using him, he then informed me that the candidate had already accepted an offer anyway and was not actually available. So you want me to enter a contract on someone who you knew wasn't available? This company is not honest and these tactics are horrendously unprofessional. Find someone else to either work with, or to represent you.
