I had a screening call with the recruiter, then an interview with the hiring manager, and finally, a second interview with a stakeholder from Microsoft. The whole experience was very professional and everyone was receptive. I was kept informed at every stage and given details about benefits and the role's expectations.

I put in my application online and got a call from HR in Singapore for a quick screening interview after about a week. They got back to me another week later to set up a face-to-face interview with the client. There were 2 rounds of interviews with 3 people in total, and it all happened within 2 weeks. I got good feedback after the first interview, but after the second one, I didn't hear anything back from HR. I followed up a week later, and HR said the hiring manager hadn't given them feedback yet, but they didn't explicitly say I didn't get the job. Another week passed, and HR contacted me again, saying they'd keep me updated because they were still waiting for feedback from the hiring manager. After that, I heard nothing more. It's not cool to keep candidates waiting and give them false hope by saying the hiring manager is still thinking about it when it really doesn't take much time to just inform shortlisted candidates of the outcome. This made for a really bad candidate experience.

Every business has its own style. It's always hard to know what to expect when going in for that interview -- and preparation can make all the difference. You aren't simply trying to get this job - you are also interviewing the employer to assess whether this company and the position are a good fit for you.
