First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Gotion.
Legal Counsel
This was the worst interview process I've ever been through. The two people interviewing me didn't bother to get to know me at all. They just bombarded me with question after question and showed zero interest in me as a candidate, which was a huge turn-off. Honestly, someone needs to inform Gotion that the interviewee is also evaluating them as a company. Wasting people's time with disrespectful interviews is not the way to go.
- Can you tell me about how your current company manages certain legal issues?
- Could you clarify what [random acronym] stands for?
- Describe the internal processes at your present employer.
Technical Solutions Engineer
The interview process usually involves three main phases. It starts with a meeting with the hiring manager and some team members. After that, you'll meet with a director and possibly people from collaborating teams, who could be located either locally or in China. The final stage is an interview with a VP and/or the CEO. Scheduling this last part can be tough because they travel a lot, so expect to possibly interview on weekends or evenings. It's best to allow ample time as these meetings often run longer than scheduled.
- Can you create a case study for a BESS application use case?
- Could you present a system design using the technical specs of a utility-scale BESS product, and please state any assumptions you make?
Senior Equipment Engineer
The interview process took about 4 weeks. They initially told me I was selected, but then put me on hold for 4 months before saying they weren't moving forward. The recruiter even sent me the offer approval notice via text and email. They left me in the dark for a long time without proper feedback, and I had to constantly follow up with no clear status updates. This situation caused me to miss out on another job offer. I wouldn't rely on Gotion's recruiting team unless you have the actual offer in hand, as they seem to waste your time and give false hopes about offer approvals.
- Questions related to the job role were asked.
Mechanical Engineer
I had an informal chat with the interviewer where I mostly asked questions. Then, I had a phone interview with the Lead Mechanical Engineer. We talked about the company's situation (a startup funded by a bigger company that makes accessory structures for their products), my experience with CAD design for battery housings, and I asked some questions about working there.
