It all kicked off with a third-party recruiter reaching out. After a quick chat and a few emails with them, I had a 30-minute call with the hiring manager at GFS. Following that, I was invited to their office for about half a day of interviews. I met with the hiring manager, a senior manager, and some of the senior developers I'd be working with. They mentioned they prefer one longer interview session over multiple shorter ones, which I thought was pretty cool and respectful of everyone's time. The interview gave me a good feel for the company culture, which seems really close-knit despite the company's size. Overall, it was a positive experience. On the technical side, though, the questions felt a bit easy, mostly covering basic computer science and OOP concepts, with a few higher-level practical/architectural questions mixed in. It felt like a straightforward interview, which was both a relief and a little underwhelming.

Technical Coding Other

I had an initial 30-minute phone screen. After a few days, I proceeded to the technical round which involved an online coding assessment. This assessment had two parts: first, reading documents, writing, analyzing algorithms, and design while answering questions, and second, a coding portion where a decision made in the documentation had to be applied to the code. I was informed later that comments are not considered during the code review, which is performed by a FAANG company.

The interview process was really disappointing. The interviewer seemed distracted and just wasn't engaged at all. Their lack of interest made it hard to connect, and I felt like my qualifications weren't really taken into account.
